Ethical Principles in AI Design
It is essential to follow key principles to ensure ethics in the design of artificial intelligence.
Artificial Intelligence is increasingly present in our daily lives. For better or worse, we have a long road ahead when it comes to designing interfaces that integrate this technology. That's why it's crucial to follow fundamental principles to ensure ethics in the design of AI systems. Below, I present some of these essential principles that we should consider:
Respect for autonomy
Human autonomy must be respected so that people can make their own decisions and carry out their own actions.
Privacy and data protection
People have the right to privacy and the protection of their data, which must be respected at all times.
Equality
We should all have equal rights and opportunities, and therefore AI systems should not unfairly favor or disadvantage anyone.
Individual, social, and environmental well-being
AI systems must be designed to contribute to individual, social, and environmental well-being — never the opposite.
Transparency
The purpose and workings of AI systems must be exposed transparently and must also be easy to understand for all those involved.
Accountability and oversight
The stakeholders involved in the development of artificial intelligence systems must take responsibility for how these applications work and for the consequences resulting from their actions.
These ethical principles are based on the fundamental rights shared by the European Commission. You can learn more about this and other references on the page I created specifically for AI ethics 👇
